Tournaments Coming Up

I am happy to circulate the details of tournaments; however I am aware that some players are concerned about being overloaded with emails.  What I am going to do is limit my emails to the list to about one a week, and I will collect requests to circulate information and tournaments I think you'd like to hear about into one mailing where possible.

Don't forget to tell your players that they can join and leave the mailing list as they wish.

To join send a blank email to adamraoof-subscribe@topica.com and follow the instructions.

If you can add that to your mailings, entry form or website I would be grateful.  I can send you the html for your own badge to put on your web page if you prefer!

Southern Counties Chess Union U18 Jamboree for county and other U18 teams

The Southern Counties Chess Union (SCCU) U18 Jamboree for county and other U18 teams will be held on Sunday March 21st 2010 at Wilson's School, Wallington, Surrey SM6 9JW. (This is the same afternoon as the SCCU U185 and U150 Jamborees, at the same venue but in different rooms)

There will be 2 events:

(1)       8 board Under 18 open. Non-members of the SCCU can apply to me to take part in this event, though obviously they are not eligible to win the SCCU title.

(2)       6 board Under 18 Minor tournament. Again an Under 18 event, but players must be aged over 11 (i.e be of secondary school age). In the minor Section the ECF grades (or other effective ratings) of the individual players must all be under 140 and the average grade of the players in the team must be under 110 treating any grade under 70 as 70. [Preferentially using long play grades.]

Team entry fee for either event: £15 for SCCU members (County or Non-County), £20 for others.

For more information see http://www.sccu.ndo.co.uk/junjam.htm or contact Neill Cooper nsc@cplusc.co.uk

The closing date for entries to Neill Cooper is Monday March 16th 2010

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
