On behalf of the organisers of the Southend International Chess Congress.

"Southend Chess Club has run the Southend Easter Chess Congress for 54 years. Until 2009 we had a generous sponsor, but unfortunately the present business climate means that we are without sponsorship for our Easter 2011 Congress.

In recent years we have had sponsorship of around £5,000, however we could run the Congress with around £2,000. The committee has set itself a target of October 31st to secure sponsorship. If, as seems likely, that we are unable to secure support, we will be unable to run another Chess Congress in Southend; a sad demise for an event that has run continuously for 54 years."

Please contact me if you can help.
