Hendon Blitz #chess, Golders Green Rapidplay, Nigel Short simultaneous display and CJ de Mooi ECF President visit Hendon in February

Golders Green and Hendon Chess Club Events

Happy New Year!

If you would like to see some great photographs of the Golders Green chess tournament over the past year, we have two recommendations.
Robert Konieczny's beautiful gallery is here.  Brendan O'Gorman has photos from many chess tournaments including ours.  Both are regular competitors in chess tournaments around the country and if you are considering travelling to a particular competition for the very first time Brendan's photographic protraits of his tournaments may give you a very accurate idea of what to expect.

The first Golders Green Rapidplay of 2011 is on Saturday 8th January 2011. You can enter online or download a form and send it to me with a cheque.

Use the online entry form to be eligible for the discounted entry fee. Entry online or by post is £15.00, £14.00 for Juniors Under 16, all other entries will be charged £20.00 on the day (£14.00 for Juniors and members of Hendon Chess Club).

Thanks to grader Howard Grist (and now Alan Ruffle) you can find a complete list of results from that tournament and and archive of other previous events at Golders Green at this address: http://goldersgreenchess.blogspot.com/

  • Hendon Blitz, January 6th - Why not play next month?  10 minutes each, six rounds. 7.30pm start, St Alban's Church Hall – see you there! Our website has all the details you need.
  • Play Nigel Short and meet CJ de Mooi! - On Tuesday 15th February 2011 I am organsing a Junior and Mixed simultaneous display over 30 boards by World Championship Finalist Grandmaster Nigel Short, at Middlesex University Real Tennis Club (http://www.murtc.co.uk/), 2 Campus Way, Hendon, London, NW4 4BT.  It costs just £40 to play (£25 for U16s, £5 to spectate) and tickets are going very fast!  You can reserve seats by email now and pay at Golders Green or after that, by post or Paypal.  ECF President and Eggheads TV celebrity CJ de Mooi and Nigel will do a talk and book signings between simuls.

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
