Golders Green and Hendon Chess Club Events

** Hendon Chess Club is hosting an evening rapidplay tournament open to all on 24th February 2011.  7.30pm to 10pm. There will be four rounds of graded games, 15 minutes per person per game, swiss system. Prizes will be based on entries, entry fee is £10 per player and £3 for current Hendon Chess Club members.  You can enter this event on the evening with no penalty but I would prefer you to email me first to warn me if you are coming!

The next Golders Green Rapidplay is on Saturday 12th February 2011. You can enter online or download a form and send it to me with a cheque.  January's event finished as follows;

As usual, use the online entry form to be eligible for the discounted entry fee. Entry online or by post is £15.00, £14.00 for Juniors Under 16, all other entries will be charged £20.00 on the day (£14.00 for Juniors and members of Hendon Chess Club).

  • Hendon Blitz, February 3rd

     

    January's blitz had 24 players and finished as follows: Grandmaster Alex Cherniaev (Hendon CC) and Dan Ellis (Hendon CC) scored 5.5/6 and won £20 each. Albert Ballardini was outright third in a tough field with 4.5 and won £5.00

     

    Why not play next time?  10 minutes each, six rounds. 7.30pm start, St Alban's Church Hall – see you there! Our website has all the details you need.

  • Play World Champ Candidate Grandmaster Nigel Short and meet CJ de Mooi!

    On Tuesday 15th February 2011 I am organising a Junior and Mixed simultaneous display over 30 boards by World Championship Finalist Grandmaster Nigel Short, at Middlesex University Real Tennis Club (http://www.murtc.co.uk/), 2 Campus Way, Hendon, London, NW4 4BT.  It costs just £40 to play (£25 for U16s, £5 to spectate) and tickets are going very fast! 

    Ring me or email for availability of places.  ECF President and Eggheads TV celebrity CJ de Mooi and Nigel will do a talk and book signing between simuls.

  • Docklands Chess is at a new venue - Langley Hall (refurbished in 2006) which is part of the St. Nicholas' Church Centre in Aberfeldy Street, Poplar, London  E14 0QD. 
    Play commences soon after 10.30 am and will comprise 6 rounds of 50 minutes duration.  There will be 3 tournament sections of Under 206 (Premier), Under 161 (Major) and Under 125 (Minor).

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
