"Dear all,

I am pleased to be writing to you to say that following on the success of the first one, a second (British Championship Qualifying!) Imperial College Chess Congress is to be held in the first weekend of February, 2013. It has taken a while for us to secure the venue again, and this time we actually have an improved space - the hall opposite where the first congress was played is a little smaller but has the added benefit of being underneath offices (as opposed to a gym) so we can improve playing conditions for our players.

The tournament details are:

DATE: 01/Feb/2013 (Fri.) to 03/Feb/2013 (Sun.)
VENUE: Imperial College Union (1st Floor), Beit Quadrangle, Prince Consort Road, London SW7 2BB
CLOSEST TUBE: South Kensington / Gloucester Road / High Street Kensington, Zone 1
EVENT FORMAT: 5 Round Swiss
TIME CONTROL: 90 minutes per player for all moves plus a 30 second increment starting from move one. Default / repairing time 30 minutes.
SECTIONS: Open, Major (U165 ECF / U1950 FIDE), Minor (U135 ECF). Open and Major sections will be FIDE rated, all three sections will be ECF graded. ENG players in the Open and Major must be ECF Gold members or above. All players regardless of federation / nationality in the Minor must be ECF Silver members or above, or pay the £6 pay-to-play fee.
ENTRY COST: £30 for all sections (£15 off for current Imperial College Chess Club members). Players in the Minor must be ECF Silver members or above, or pay the £6 pay-to-play fee (total £36 entry fee). ENG players in the Open and Major must be ECF Gold members or above.
PRIZES: Guaranteed a minimum of £200 / £150 / £100 in the Open, £150 / £100 / £70 in the Major, and £120 / £80 / £50 in the Minor. Additional grading prizes (and potential increased prize pool) may be announced at the tournament but are dependent on entries.
BYE: Players may request a half-point bye in advance (on the entry form) for Rounds 1 through 4.

For those that perhaps did not make it or would like a refresher, our write-up of the first congress is here: https://union.ic.ac.uk/rcc/chess/2011/11/report-imperial-college-chess-congress-2011/

We look forward to hosting a successful event in a great central location, with food and drink (Union bar on the floor below but crucially not directly below!) for our players in close proximity as well.

If you are interested in entering, please see full details at the following URL and also note that you can enter online:

I look forward to seeing some of you there! Please note that space is limited to approximately 80 players, and that entries are provisional until the receipt of the entry fee as a result. Cash on-the-day is no problem although it is recommended to reserve your space early as we cannot guarantee there will be places on-the-day.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, and a happy New Year to all!

Yours sincerely,
John Sargent
ICCC Organiser"

Best wishes

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
