Golders Green Rapidplay is this Saturday!

Golders Green Rapidplay is this Saturday, 7th September. Visit and enter online now.  If you can't wait until then to play some chess, visit and register for the blitz this Thursday!

IMPORTANT: Playing at Hampstead or Golders Green? Please read the following

  • due to new FIDE regulations, all non-ENG players must quote a FIDE Identification Number (FIN) with their entry.  If you have played in any rated event then you already have a FIN and you can find your FIN by searching - you don't need to have achieved a rating to obtain a FIN.  If you don't have a FIN already then you must get one by contacting your Federation's International Rating Officer before entering Hampstead or in fact any internationally rated event in England.  This includes Golders Green Rapidplay.  English players without a FIN don't have to do anything - we will register you with FIDE directly.

  • If you happy for us to register you for ENGLAND then be aware that changing your Federation at a later date may cost you - at the moment the fee for changing Federations is £250.

Important information about Hampstead Chess Tournaments from September 2013

OK, we did our best to accommodate everyone (75 players) who wanted to play in August's event - but it was less than ideal, and you were very patient!  As a result of that event we have made an important decision.

  • Hampstead is now strictly limited to the first 50 players who enter to preserve playing conditions - in future no tournament games will take place in the cafe / analysis area

  • The 'cafe' will be reserved for eating, analysis and playing blitz, and possibly the bookstall.

  • Please enter early to avoid disappointment as entries will close promptly when we are full.  Our next event is 28-29 September, see for details.

75 played.  Thanks to Geoff Gammon, Norman Went, yElena Went and Mike Bennett for their assistance in making the event a pleasure to organise.

Open - Tom Villiers 5.5/6 £200 and a Qualifying Place for the British Championships in 2014, Isaac Craft and Conor Murphy 4.5/6 and £50 each.  Rating prize of £80 went to Edwin Kalerwa with 4/6.

Major - Sam Porter 5.5/6 £200, Stephen Pride 5/6 and £100.  A rating prize of £80 went to Cecil Sloan (USA) on tiebreak.

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
