Golders Green Rapidplays

If you play chess and you're looking to take part in over the board competitions for the first time, then why not try the monthly Golders Green Rapidplay?

I have been running these one-day events (with lots of help from friendly volunteers) for a long time.  We have four sections based on ability, and we get about 100 players competing, and a lot of return customers!

You have one of the best chess websites I have seen. It is very friendly and clever. As the chess administrator for the family, I am seriously impressed by the on-line bookingA Chess Parent

If you fancy a go, don't forget to enter online in time for the next event.

All the games are graded by the ECF and part of the ECF Grand Prix. ALL SECTIONS are rated by FIDE in their rapidplay list. You have to be a member of the ECF (SILVER LEVEL or above) to take part in ANY section. However, players who are not ECF *Silver* members or above will be charged £25.00 to enter. Ring 01424 775222 to join the ECF or visit http://www.englishchess.org.uk/.

Please note there is our very first weekend congress on 18-19 January 2014!

Here are the rapidplay dates for 2014.  Stick 'em in your diary!

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
