[Central London Chess Congress] 21-23/April/2017 Confirmed!

Central London Chess Congress April 2017 Date Set!

I'm writing to confirm that the Central London Chess Congress is going ahead in 2017 with our first event being:

Central London Chess Congress: Friday 21st of April to Sunday 23rd of April, 2017

This event will be on the 1st floor (in Nov 2016 we were on the 2nd floor) in the Union Dining Hall. This means a few things:
  • We have slightly less space (~10 fewer people will be able to play)
  • For those who recall, the room itself is a bit more grand / photogenic with wood panelling and a bit more of an 'old school' atmosphere
Below is a photo from a few years ago so you can see what to expect :) Arbiters and biscuits an unsurprising combination here.

A few notes about the congress for you to be aware of, please:
  • As per our other events in the Union building, due to Westminster Council restrictions No U18's are allowed at this event. Unfortunately this is beyond our control and we legally cannot make exceptions. To attend in any capacity (including spectating) you must be 18yo or older on 21/Apr/2017.
  • We are accepting entries online, which are payable at time of entry. We are limited to approx. 80-85 players.
  • Brendan O'Gorman has an excellent photo album from our last congress, which you can browse and appreciate here (http://brendanogorman.smugmug.com/Chess/Imperial-College-2016/).

I look forward to welcoming you to the first 2017 event!

All the best,
John Sargent

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Scroll down to the bottom to access the archive of events.

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
