A fantastic game vs Bill Upton in Hampstead Congress u1700 round 3

This is a game from the Hampstead under 1700 and under 135ecf Congress which was held online using video conferencing and other sophisticated anti cheating software.

The line i missed here was 23....Qb4!! threatening 24...Qd2+ 25 Kb1 Qxb2# if 24.Ng1 [uncovering a defence to the d2 square by the queen] then  24...Rxa3 and that us the reply to 24,Rd1 and 24,Ne4 and 24.Nc3!

The lasr move is the best defence which goes 23....Qb4!! 24.Nc3! Rxa3! 25.Nb1 Ra1 26.Ne4 Na3!!

It deserves to be in the encyclopedia of combinations, by informant, it is so complex and winning. And of course 24.axb4?? loses to 24...Ra1#

Here is a list of FIDE registered tournaments in England. There will be a separate entry for each section of each event (e.g. Golders Green Rapidplay = 4 sections, 4 registrations). If you see any of mine missing, do let me know!

Only games where at least one of the players has a published standard FIDE rating will be rated, and included in the rating calculations of the unrated player. Where both players are rated, the game will affect both players and will be included in the calculations for both players.
